Jade, this is a fascinating and courageous piece. You're tackling the profound, and often overlooked, connection between our psychological state and our physiological reality.

It reminds me of the work I do with clients in my wellness classes. We can perfect the nutrition and exercise protocols, but if the underlying narrative is one of self-criticism and stress, the body remains in a state of chronic "threat." From a biochemical standpoint, this means elevated cortisol, which is a powerful catabolic and fat-storing hormone.

The shift you describe... from self-beratement to acceptance and self-compassion... isn't just a psychological shift. It's a direct, physiological signal to down-regulate that threat response. Alia Crum's milkshake study is a perfect, stunning example of this mind-body dialogue in action.

While we may use different models, yours quantum, mine biochemical, we are clearly arriving at the same fundamental truth: you cannot hate your body into a state of health. A powerful and necessary reframe.

There’s some resonance here to The Gabriel Method, which I recently read. The principle there is if we accept our body may want to carry extra weight, that’s often enough to turn things around and weight comes off. Between that and this, I’m working on that radical self-love, so thank you.
