I love a lot of what you say. But I'm having trouble with much of this post. Maybe I just missed the point.

"Fear is a message from your future self." Seems to me that fear is "thinking about the future" but patterned by things that have happened in the past.

And I spent much of my life waiting for the future and dissociated from the past and present. I've worked hard to overcome that and my experience is that life (joy, peace, love) is only in the present moment. Not talking "about" the future, not talking "from" the future. Simply being, now.

Yes, the concept of the future self is indeed confusing because the typical way people think of it is as wishing or dreaming or projecting. That way of dealing with change is dysfunctional & detrimental. Think of it like this….. your past is pushing you (via the historical material of your life) and your future is pulling you (not based on wishing but based on potential or who you could be at your best). The future self is not a wished for self it is the fully realized version of you as a natural consequence of who you were and who you currently are. No one changes by being true to their present self. Nor do we change by overly identifying with a past self. The next level human you is the version of you who has fully integrated your past and current history to create a greater potential. It is not a wished for entity. It is created and chosen and it is the only self worth being authentic to
