And I think all of us could use, should use both (this method and therapy)... as the are both immensely important and strong in what they each do (although I feel if you have to choose one this would be the method for most mentally healthy humans). In terms of the group dynamic... yes people can certainly perform and it is on the group facilitator to not necessarily police that... but to embody and reinforce the authentic telling of the story of struggle. When people understand that "performing" reinforces the pattern.... they start to abandon performing for authenticity and I think this happens faster in a group setting.
